Name: Liam Goor Department: Field Service Coordinator/Engineer Scheduler at Concorde TG

Background: I left college in 2016, having completed a Level 3 BTEC in IT.

After my 2 years at college, I knew I did not want to go to university, so I took a few months to spend some time looking for what my next steps could be.

During my time at Kirklees College in Huddersfield, I completed a short stint of work experience at C&K Careers, which I found enjoyable.

I looked into IT apprenticeships, so I could get both experience in the field and gain more qualifications.

Education:  I studied a level 3 BTEC Diploma in IT whilst I was at Kirklees College in Huddersfield, between 2014 and 2016.

During this time, I had undergone work experience with some basic internal IT department support.

I also completed a level 3 MCSA 72 Credit Apprenticeship, whilst working on the Software Service Desk as a 1st line engineer.

I then moved on to a level 4, IT Professional Apprenticeship, then moved to the hardware team once my level 4 was completed.

What brought you to Concorde?

I had been searching for different IT apprenticeships at the time. Whilst I was looking, I came across one that was both local to myself and looked interesting.

It wasn’t until I had undergone the interview, that I realised that it was also a place one of my friends had worked at for a time.

What are your day to day responsibilities?

My day to day responsibilities are quite varied within the role.

As a Field Service Coordinator/Engineer Scheduler, I am responsible for ensuring engineers have jobs booked-in for them, passing the engineers tickets to vet, as well as kicking-off the quote process by passing it on to one of our other departments.

I also liaise with customers to see if they want to go ahead with quotes.

What is it like working for Concorde?

At Concorde, there are always opportunities to learn and develop, with new contracts to remember and new tickets to deal with. I am always busy!

And the best aspect of your role?

The best aspect would be that I get to work in a close team where everyone gets along and can have fun, even during days which are busier than normal.

I also enjoy being able to get in touch with different people, whether they are a supplier or an end customer.

Recent achievements?

I recently completed my level 4 IT Professional baltic apprenticeship.

What are your interests outside work?

When I'm not spending time with friends or family, I spend a lot of my time reading or gaming.

Would you recommend an apprenticeship with Concorde?

Concorde has been fantastic at giving me the time I needed to focus on my studies, as well as providing a location for me to complete my classwork.

Concorde has a wealth of knowledge around the business that you can learn from and dedicated training facilities where you can study and train in a great quiet classroom. The senior technical Guys run regular internal training on great subjects like Microsoft Azure and AWS, With this in mind, I would recommend an apprenticeship at Concorde.
